Pakistan Bible Society Museum



On 9th February 2013, The Bible Museum at Bible House, Anarkali Lahore was inaugurated to commemorate the completion of 150 Years of Bible work. The special gathering was held at Bible House at 3:00 pm and was graced by the top leadership of the Christian community. Mr. Anthony Lamuel, General Secretary introduced the Bible Museum and reported that the exhibits comprise of replicas and reproduction of Biblical manuscripts and archeology artifacts collected from all over the world. Among the articles on display five items are certified copies from the British Museum, more than 30 copies of manuscripts certified by the respective antiquities departments and facsimile copies of important old Bibles and certified copies from the Bible Museum U.S.A. He thanked the donor especially Barnabas Fund for making this Bible Museum possible in Pakistan. He also mentioned that the certified facsimile copy of Mirat-ul-Qudas (Persian summary of the life of Christ presented to the Mughal King Akbar by the Jesuits) has been acquired from the Lahore Museum.

Mr. Wilson Siraj of Barnabas Fund U.K, on behalf of the International Director congratulated the General Secretary and the staff of the Bible Society for setting up the Bible Museum. Ms. Sumaira Samad, The Director of the Lahore Museum spokes on the importance of the Museum in promoting education in history and anthropology. She highly praised the well displayed, labeled and lit artifacts in the Bible Museum.

Dr. Farzand Masih, Chairman, Department of Archeology, University of Punjab, in his views on archeology in understanding history. He commended the work and mentioned that under the leadership of Mr. Anthony Lamuel, General Secretary, the setting up the Bible Museum has been done very professionally. Speaking on this occasion the Rt. Rev. Dr. Alexander John Malik President of the Pakistan Bible Society, thanked all the donors, participants and guests of honor for making this inauguration ceremony colorful and meaningful. He said that this facility would be a big tool in helping the students of Bible schools to have good understanding of Biblical history and archeology. At the end of the ceremony two Posters (How Bible Came to Us) were launched. The Urdu Version was unveiled by Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Asi Executive Secretary of Catholic Bible Commission and Rt. Rev. Irfan Jamil Bishop of Lahore. The English version was unveiled by Rt. Rev. Samuel Robert Azariah, Bishop of Raiwind Diocese and Moderated/ President Bishop Church of Pakistan along with Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Asi. The Bible Museum was inaugurated by ribbon cutting by the Mr. Wilson Siraj (Barnabas Fund, U.K), Ms. Sumaria Samad (Director Lahore Museum), Dr. Bishop Alexandar John Malik (President Pakistan Bible Society), and Mr. Anthony A. Lamuel (General Secretary). The non-Christian leaders and scholars also participated in the program and appreciate the efforts of the Pakistan Bible Society.
